Weather where you are?

Anything less than a 5 will not even wake me up:eek:(y)
Having been through a 7.2 followed by roughly 10,000 aftershocks incl the 6.2 which did for Christchurch, I'm hypersensitised to shakes.
Experience lets you estimate the size, direction and depth way before the official sites come up with the figures.
Not an ability gained lightly. Or willingly.

I was at Stockton Beach, 40ks from the epicentre when the Newcastle one went off, initially, I was blank as I had never felt one before, and then the Penny Drops and we did the bolt. Not fun when you are on the bottom floor of a 3 story block of flats.

Once upon a time I was in a lift in Wellington when it kinda shimmied. It felt a bit like a train going over a rough joint in the track.
When we arrived at the ground floor we saw everyone in doorways looking concerned… and had that “oh” realisation moment…

Shortly after arriving back in New Guinea after sixteen years in Europe, I was riding along when I thought I had a flat tyre, the bike was weaving all over the place, then I noticed all the trees swaying. Tremors were nearly a daily occurrence, but it took a while to get used to them.

Some crazy Flash flooding around Sydney today, instant rivers popping up in major population centres. Some pics of last week's stuff. No riding on these roads for a while.

Fukken hell! Those pics give a much better idea of the extent of the damage and the scale of the cleanup. Why has it taken the feds so long to activate a crisis response?!

Crazy weather! The crazy part is how we had the crazy floods in BC last November washing out major highways and now NSW has copped it. Kinda like the extreme fires we had in BC in 2019 and then NSW has extreme fires in 2019/2020.

If you want to know what's coming next just check the BC news about 4 -5 months prior.

Jim

Hate to sound churlish but we could do with some rain over here, tanks are starting to get a bit low.
Hope nobody over east are too impacted by the floods.

Here it comes again.
Heavy rain with totals of more than 300mm is predicted for residents between the NSW central and south coasts, including Sydney, over the next few days. There also is the potential for localised heavier falls, the bureau warns.
