The Aussie depository.....

Not wishing to start a political discussion but: Australian politics are at an all time low.

Luckily the footy isn’t far from kicking off 😊 and the Mighty Mighty Swans (read South Melbourne) play The Lions first off. It’s a shame it’s at the SCG, if it was in Brisbane I’d try to get there.

Footy: Legs will be happy re Hawks win …. meanwhile the Swans are licking their wounds.

TC Narelle: I’ve met Bob the copper at Coen, nice fella, bet he is busy atm, cat4 is not to be taken lightly.

No brakes and death by splinters. They had the same style of racing in the USA. Bloody fast as well. Crazy handlebar designs. Best to read before announcing your stupidity. I expected it to be about Board Track, like I said, done in the USA. Not sure what was deadlier, the Aussie Concrete Sauser or the Yanks board track. The Pomoter had a very famous book written allegedly about his life, but to avoid lawsuits, the names were changed. The book title was Power Without Glory—corruption up the wazoo.

What is an 'Aussie Breakfast'?
I visited a cousin's cafe in Sheffield for the first time today - very nice it was too - and had an 'Aussie Breakfast'. https://heritagelifestyleshop.co.uk/pages/brunch
The food was very nicely cooked and I enjoyed it a lot but I couldn't get out of my head that ever since I was a kid I was brought up on the fact 'Oztralia' was very much a rules based society, with the main rule being - "no poofters".
So I was thinking, if that's the case why would they be eating a veggie breakfast - even though 'Vegemite' is obviously an Aussie creation and very popular with some people.
So what really is in a traditional, cooked Aussie breakfast?

I had to Google what the hell Grill Halitomi was. Never heard of it. Seems it's a form of Goat Cheese, there are a lot of Greeks in Meoboure apparently, so maybe its there thing. Sound intersting. As a kid, it was either Fried or scrambled eggs on toast or Corn Flakes or sardines on toast. Porage, but I was never a fan. Maybe bacon, but not often, nothing particularly exotic. This was pre-Asian immigration. The best thing we ever did to improve our Cuisine was heaps of different immigration.

Well, traditionally, particularly if on the road (as this is a motorbicycling site) crawling out of the tent after 3 too many a good dingo's breakfast usually consisted of a piss, a fart and a good look around.
As we move up the affluence (no Mildred not effluence) ladder a good cooked breakfast was usually pretty simple consisting of fried eggs, bacon, baked beans, tomatoe's and toast, sometimes with mushrooms and bigger version adding more meat like sausages. Personally, these days I limit the bacon and just prefer eggs, baked beans & fried Tomatoes, ya know, the body is a temple and all that!!!
The Heritagelifestyleshop is surely taking the piss, although that Aussie breakfast mentioned on their menu is probably a staple in cafe society of our larger cities which are actually quite a different world to the rest of Australia:rolleyes:

Smashed avo on toast? Yeah? Nah ... Vegemite on toast, maybe. But here in Orstraylya we just have 'big breakfasts' (eggy weggs on toast - cooked your way - options of mushies, tomatoes, hash browns, bacon, snaggers, spinach ... you get the picture). We certainly don't call it 'an Aussie breakfast'. List lof ingredients looks more Pommie to me.

Travelling in Europe lets you savour a wildly diverse variety of breakfast styles. From a full-blown British that will help you get through till supper to the dainty "Continental" breakfast that just pulls you through until lunch, which is often the main meal of the day.

I've grown to prefer the italian style, a cappucino and brioche consumed at the bar, just enough calories to last until lunch but enough time for a nice chat. But I'll go for a full english when in UK... and then mostly skip lunch.

Vince, Melbourne houses one of the largest greek communities in the world, larger than many major greek cities. I think only Athens and Thessaloniki have more Greeks than Melbourne! Wonder what my old school mate Nicky Hatzamanolis from Pascoe Vale is up to these days...

Geez Quentin, Bombers are struggling as I write, having a hard time getting to their feet this year.

Dingoes breakfast: I often have a Dingoes breakfast driving trucks interstate.

Consists of a morning piss and an overnight brewed fart, while having a look around (doing my best meerkat impersonation) at the surroundings.

Rightio, now I’m really pissed off …. We were told that we’d be building subs in Australia again…… Yeah nah, too hard.

Donald says we’ll do it for you, so we contract the US to build us a few submarines and hand over a fistful of reddies in good faith, so they can gear up.

Yanks crack a fat over the order, gear up their sub building facilities with our ‘hard earned’ and then figure the US could used a few more new submarines in their fleet.

The ‘fuck you Aussies, you can buy our second hand ones’ is a slap in the face.

And, then our piss poor, frock wearing political steer softcocks come out and sprook the $ savings to be seen, rather than dictate to the Yanks: ‘Nah fuck you, you double crossing Indian giver fuckers. We ordered new subs, we want new subs as per the contract, if you fail to deliver on time, the price drops by 5% every month delayed for not fulfilling the contract …. or the like.

I bet their lardidah commonwealth flag wearing company cars aren’t secondhand Uber rides … 😡

I thought the original plan was to buy two 2nd hand and 1 new sub.
We'll never see them in our life time so who cares. Don't really want nuke subs parked 40 kays south of Perth anyway.
I'm a further 400 kays south of Garden Island with prevailing winds from Antarctica so not my problem

Back in the 80s, I found the breakfast style in Greece to be, well, sweet FA as they say in Oz. On Mykonos, though, there was a place that did a proper English breakfast with beans, tomatoes, toast and Marmite, which I have to say I prefer to Vegemite by a smidgen. Spreads easier mainly. Walking home hungover early AM in Athens, trying to spot a taxi and looking for even a pastry was a lost cause. Poor me. I'm sure things are better now, though. Melbourne is one of my top places for food, fantastic.

I don’t want them either, I’m not interested in the subs at all.

Maybe I’ve got the numbers mixed up, matters naught, simply using the sub saga to point out how piss poor our leaders are when it comes to standover men….. shame on them.
