I have 2 engines one 1200 one 1000, tidy bottom end on 1000 tidy top end on 1200 will the 1200 barrels fit straight onto the 1000 botom end. Do not want to start stripping engines down if does not fit without a lot of messing about.

Not without opening up the holes in the upper crankcase half so the liners fit.

Sorry Andy not selling the barrels, I will now strip the bottom end of the 1200 motor so that it works and looks as good as the top. I have the 2 motors as I wrote off an RGS back in the 90's that Phil Todd had worked on and bored out to 1200 I use this in my present RGS but always get questioned at MOT time as numbers do not match and the gearbox is better in the standard 1000 motor that should be in my present frame so was hoping to marry the two.

Hi Duncan

I added 1200 barrels to my RGS motor several years ago. The barrels came from an 82 1200 TS 180 that had a seriously broken engine case.

It wasn't that big a deal. Split the 1000 crankcase and strip it, remove the cylinder studs, and take the top half engine case to any half decent machinist to have the holes in the top engine half made a bit larger to accept the 1200 cylinder liners. Probably cheaper and certainly easier doing it that way than doing a full bottom end rebuild.......
