180 Crank Rebuild

Frank,

Sorry it took so long for my reply (work is getting busy), but I want to say thanks for
the link.  I also like the fact they have a contact here in the states.  If I ship within the
U.S., maybe the can send it across the border with less fuss and cost to me.  I had checked
with UPS about sending parts to Canada, and while it is certainly feasible, there are
extra costs involved.

Once again.....thanks.

I was thinking some times, if there would be a Market to build Cranks made out of one Piece, with Plain Bearings at Main and Conrod, with divisible Conrod, like a modern Engine, maybe with differend Stroke...
The Engine of course would have less Vibrationes, and easyer to Mainentance, no more turning of Crankpcs. also!
The cost of a Projekt like this can be not much over a overhaul...
Or maybe someone knows a existing simular Crank to fix in a Laverda?

...just a Idea to discuss...

Wouldn't plain bearings involve oil pressure?
Paul

Should be not much difference for the Pressure?

Plain (shell) bearings would need a far greater pressure, although, if the Laverda oil pump 's flow was restricted it would build up pressure - have seen oil coolers blown out when the old base gasket was fitted!1 - Regards - Phil

very much doubt you would have room to clear the required conrod bolts inside the existing engine cases

and agree with comments on oil pressure, you need a lot more pressure with plain bearings than you need with roller bearings

As an outsider I find it baffling that there seems to be some sort of force field between Canada and the USA. I would have thought they would have got together (a bit like the European Union) and made trade easy?

Very interesting Scrumpy! Looks pricey, they do conrods as well.

There is an old 'clanky' fitters motto for these tricky situations:

'Do it nice or do it twice'.

And developed the fuel injection system for the 595 Daytona triple, not that I know anything about this subject.
