2 stuck plungers

I am toiling away at the starter clutch in my 3C and two of the plungers are completely stuck "in" I have removed he pressed cover but still cannot for the life of me get them out any ideas ?

stab a welding rod onto the plunger to make it "stick" then cut the rod down to 50mm or so and use it to wiggle  the little sucker out.

Clem, being a welder, has the optimal solution. But in my experience, a long soak in a penetrating oil followed by some judicious tapping has always freed them.
