My 1976 3CL is red, but which red? Is it
Rouge - Red    750 S, SF, 1000    Smalto PC/ACR Rosso Old 06805 Lechler

or

Rouge - Red    350, 500, 750 SF, 1000    Ral 3020 Verkehrsrot Lechler

Could it be either? Are the two reds year specific? Where can I see what kind of red these are?

Here's one I did a few years ago. Was somewhere between RGS red and orange. Was the original colour.
And no, I don't have a reference code for it.

Where can I see what kind of red these are?

A decent paint supplier...but matching by code/number just doesn't work well in my experience.  Undercoat colour is needed....number of coats...impact of lacquer.  Also, the Laverdamania site is not accurate in some cases (SFC orange for example).

Grant,
Its no good tormenting me with just the right colour, and then not being able to identify it! Is it in the Porsche Guards Red range or something totally different. There is lots of hugely technical and complicated stuff on this forum, but something like paint colour identification, which you would seem to be a simple black and white issue, (sorry about that)........nowt.

Hi pfg49 I have painted several bikes and never used a paint reference as I have found firstly down here in Australia no one recognised the codes and secondly the color is nothing like your expectation!!
If you have an unfaded area of paint say under the tank take it to a reputable painter to match it and I am sure you will end up with what you desire.

Just looked at the pic I posted again and it looks more red than it did in the flesh.
Here's another in the Spanish sun. First was in UK daylight.
Looks more orangey-red in reality than straight red.

Grant,

Like any of the below?

I'd say an Alfa or Fiat red as per the pics in the Miami Jota (for sale section) would be the way to go: don't forget that Laverda borrowed heavily from Fiat paint codes for years...

Somewhere between RAL3024 and Escort Mexico red I would say.
It's hard to get a fix on it as it really popped when the sun shone on it.

As stated by Rob in an earlier answer the colour of the primer base coat is important as it the lacquer (if going two pack base colur and lacquer father than 'solid' colour.

As for "popped when the sun shone on it" the colour of the F1 Ferrari's  is just awesome. It is achieved by painting a white base coat, followed by flourescent orange and finished with a clear red lacquer. Very challenging to get consistant as the depth of the lacquer determins the final colour as does the viewing angle.

Take the guess work out of it and take a colour sample to your painter to match up, or get some rattle cans mixed up in your choice of and spray out some samples to see what takes your fancy...
