3CL starter motor problem

Hello Gentlemen

Have put the 3CL back together and fired her up a few times. She started every time.

Put the helmet on and was ready for the first ride and hit the starter button and the solenoid engaged but the starter wouldn't turn the engine over.

It is as if the engine is seized (which it definitely is not).

Do some starters have issues with brushes etc?

Brush holders can rotate around their rivets. At least that's what happened on my RGS, same symptoms.

Battery?

Had the battery on the charger for 2 days and tried again and still won't turn the engine over... so battery not the problem...

Can still be the battery if it has a dead cell. Could charge it for a month and it still wont generate the power to start the bike. Try another battery or jumper leads.

Check voltage across the battery just before and just after trying to start it.

OK will put another battery in and see how that works. Sounds like it might be the answer...
