750s Formula original paint question.

I've just viewed a 750s Formula in the UK with a view to buying it.

It's wearing a UK W plate so it was first registered in 2000, although probably a 1997? bike.

The paint is a black coloured tank, fairing and seat with orange wheels. The area around the headlamps and the sides of the tail piece is in the colours of the Italian flag (think area used for a number on a race bike).

Does anyone know,  is this Italian flag bit original?

black/orange bikes where produced until beginning of 1999, followed/replaced by the orange/silver and orange/blue Formulas, same 3 spoke wheels. "True" 2000 models start somewhere end of 1999 and had 5-spoke wheels as the most obvious differentiator. Internals were also different, lots of more torque due to other cams and other chip.

I don't think the Italian flag is original.
