another electrical question

My Jota has two double coils. The one running the centre cylinder has the unused HT lead grounded. I dunno who fitted the coils (done before I bought the bike) but it works OK and I've never had a reason to change it.

Just curious. The lead is grounded to the frame? Or to the engine?

Cheers

Either, but securely. Don't let the high voltage find its own way...
Also, just thinking of which, since using a dual output coil for just one plug doubles the voltage you should probably be more careful about the integrity and cleanliness of the lead, cap and plug outer to prevent flashover.
I guess... :-\

It's grounded to one of the coil mounting bolts. The grounding lead is only about an 40mm long!
It shouldn't matter where it's grounded as long as there's a good electrical connection between engine and frame.

I went today to get some parts for my dr600 to a wrecker, and found ?lying around? a Tek 3 ohm single coil.

I happen to have a double coil as well.

Reading the thread, I get that cable polarity is not important in the double coil, but it is on the single. Can someone tell me what cable goes to the green terminal in the coil?

Thank you!
