Another road tyre thread

My bike currently has a 130 rear and a 110 front

That's the Size I run on my 71SF except Perelli Radials for every Day and Cruising.

The 130x18 Perrelli isn't made any more so I'm thinking BT Bias all around next time.

I've a Question - Do you think it would be Dangerous to run a Radial 110x18 on the Front with a 130 or 140x18 Bias on the Rear?

I do like a that Radial on the Front.

I am running a Bridgestone BT023 Radial front and a Pirreli 140 Sports Demon bias rear with no problem,I loved the BT 92 Radial 140 rear but the 55 aspect lowered the final drive gearing by 1000 revs, kinda insurmountable hurdle when everyone else is cruising at just under 6 and your doing just under 7,thats theoretical, never actually happened truly ruly.BTW the pic of Rufustbears rear at Spa was how my rear Radial would wear,it had SO MUCH GRIP.

Hi Chaps,
I split this topic as it bore no relevance to the original question, and road tyre threads do tend to waffle on endlessly.
This keeps the original thread talking only about race tyres, hope everyone is OK with this move.

As to your question LavSF, I can think of nothing more dangerous than the 20+ year old Pirelli Phantom you have on the back of your bike (in the photos, disregard if not), so just about any new tyre of the correct size will be an improvement.  Generally speaking, stick to 100/90 front and 120/90 rear unless you are fitting larger rims.  I like Pirelli Sport Demons, BS BT45's are good but a bit light in construction IMHO, there's new Avon Road Riders or some such thing getting good feedback.  Do a search here on tyres and you'll find plenty.

Now, how about oil...?
:D

30 years ago these "another thread on" would have about beer brands and and condom sizes. Now who is using what brand of air in their tires?

Air,that's so yesterday it's nitrogen you should be using. :D

Steve: Thanks for taking the time to properly address my inquiry - Kinda thought I may have been off topic but seemed an opportunity to ask some Experienced Tyre Critics.

I didn't ride the SF this summer because of that 20 Year Old 130 x18 Rear Pirelli Radial Phantom. It's hard as a Rock and no doubt probably will have to be cut it off.

Thanks for your inputs - I've no problems running a 130 Rear and will be shopping for a rather sticky Bias for next Summer & keep the 110 Radial on the Front.

Sure missed Riding this summer but there's Next Year.

I can't believe you recognized that Phantom as it hasn't been made in over 20 years - N2O - LOL.
