Hi
I have a couple Astralite wheels on my bike. The problem is that the front wheel center hub has type collapsed?? I have tried a lot of different solutions, but none have been good.
Now I have come to a point where I give up.( NOT wanna talk about it-OK!!!!!)
To my great delight I discovered yesterday that an English guy has to start production again.
Now for my question. The first series produced in size from 2.50 to 3.50 and 4.00
What should be select forward? 2.50 or 3, 50.? my old wheels is 2.75!
A 120/70-18 would be nice on a 3.50 rim
A 110/80-18 would be nice on a 2.50 rim
Opinions please.
Johan

What size rear are you using?
That should help guide your front wheel selection.

Wider tires = more leaning angle at same cornering speed. If we talking about a series 1 triple with standard frame it might come in handy to order the odd one dozen blister pack of alternator covers on top of the wide rim. ::)

Also means more ground clearance at a given angle of lean.

No real need for the extra alternator covers.  Only ever managed to ground mine once, but the cover would have been the least of my problems at that moment!  But then, my 3C has about 4cm additional ground clearance compared to stock...

Totally agree with Piet.
What you have lost on the merry-go-round, you have made up for on the round-a-bout.
Perhaps more to the point is the type of steering characteristics you are after on your classic bike.

Hi Johan - Depending on your tyre make - a 3" may be the reccommended width. It's best to decide what tyres you want to use and then find out the makers specifications of rim size.- Regards - Phil

Just got this wheel back from builders - it's a 130 tyre on a 3?" rim - Regards - Phil
