Avon Road Riders

Good onya Reggie......DH. yes they would equally suit the rgs and rga. In fact I'm getting a pair of them Thursday despite cosis recommendations of pirellis and others bt45....

I have Road Riders on my RGS, and they work OK.  Initially though I was struggling for feel from the front, probably down to being more accustomed to 'modern' tyre sizes.

They seemed to take a while to 'scrub in'  but now they are fine.  Can't comment on wear rates, as I have only managed about 1000km.

I hear they wear out quick from another members experience though

As a matter of interest, the tyres that we took off the argy (Avon Super Venom) were dated '86!!! :o :o

Could be why they felt a bit average  :D :D

That would beat least 2 against 1 Dickhead, plus the others i dont have time to count,

i actually really liked the Avons on the Pantah till i got Metzlers, tyres change all the time, so lets see how your little avalons go, DH  :P

But the Pirellis are gold, 2800Ks and fck all signs of wear

I bought a set of road riders but didn't fit them to the 3C as I heard a few bad reports on them.  Went with Pirelli super venom, very happy, out cornered a few modern bikes up the old road, always great to leave modern blokes wondering what that funny orange bike was!!!!

Handled well in the wet too.

Cheers

Hey Marti, where did you get the venoms and what did you pay (with fit and balance).

I see Team moto are doing a few known brands for $349 a pair fitted.

Pirelli diablos.....

I am pretty sure Marty meant Pirelli Sports Demons, they come in the right tyre sizes for the rims.Super Venoms were made by Avon and to my knowledge not imported to Oz anymore.Pirelli diablos are not made in sizes to suit the rims,150 is there smallest rears,to big for the std rims.I have a Pirelli Sports Demon on the rear and its not quite as sticky as what I used to run,I used to run an out there choice that stuck really well but had to many downsides.Anyway Sports Demons are what I recommend for the usual 2.15 to 2.5 rear rims for well above avage grip and wear

Vince, that makes sense and I can see the sport demons in the right size / profile. I was tempted to throw a couple of the avons in the crate with the bike from the uk but I don't think it's worth it.

Ed

Sorry Ed, Vince is right, yeah, they're round and black and f..k goannas!

Got mine from Desmo Clinic at Meadowbank, $150 fitted and balanced.  They had them in stock.

Cheers

Marty

So the Avons I had fitted the other day feel awesome! Mind you I didn't go fast at all seeing as they are niew! But things like the tram tracking simply stopped which is a good thing!!
