I don?t know if this is going to work but I think it is worth a go. Hopefully it will be fun and generate some lively debate.
As the subject title states this is a photo competition to produce the forum?s bike of the month. At the end of the year the 12 winners will be entered against each other to produce the forum?s bike of the year. Technical descriptions can be supplied so the competition may not be purely on aesthetics.
Rules:
? The bike must be a Laverda.
? The person submitting the photograph does not have to be the owner of the bike.
? 1 vote per person per month.
? Voting will finish on the last day of the month
Photographs, or links to photographs should be sent to me via a personal message. I can then up/download them. Photographs will be dealt with on a first received first entered basis.
I am sure that I will have overlooked things so if you can see some way of improving things please let me know.
These pictures have been chosen at random to kick things off.

Nice one Scrumpy - I guess it's too cold in your garage today, so a warm fire and the PC took preference??  :D

My vote is now cast. Not sure what Paul's on about..... ???

Alan :)

Good on you Scrumpy! Bit of fun and difficult to choose.

Just a suggestion - I reckon that it might be a good idea to have Bike of the Month as on of the bold, pinned topics, even flashing on and off to attract attention.

Only say this as with a single posting it could easily get a bit lost.

Cheers
Jason

Jason,
Thats a good idea. I had intended to post in Massimo's cafe but there was no facility for conducting a poll there hence the use of the gallery. I will contact a moderator to see if this is possible.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Alan - I spent half an hour in the garage with gloves on, even that was too cold when your just mooching around, so I retired to the comfort of the fire and a footy match.

Goodonya Scrumpy,
Hope things are starting to thaw out in the the depths of Wiltshire.
What's this about retiring to watch a 'footy' game, the AFL season doesn't start for a few months ;)
Terry

Terry,
Things are decidely warmer at present I contemplated taking the Lav for a spin but settled on a cycle ride instead so that I had some time to potter in the garage (a mini clear out - see man cave thread). In retorspect I should have gone for a ride as my legs are aching right now.

:bangonhead:  AFL - Isn't that a disorganised version of rugby? :falloverlaughing

Just don't understand these results - The 120 has a nice tank, :bling: an average tailpiece, :give me beer: horrible sidecovers :bangonhead: and a Ducati fairing! :falloverlaughing

Henry - a great shade of orange though!

I must admit that I am surprised at the interest that BOM has generated. As I write this there has been 82 votes and over 570 viewings. Not bad for a feature in its infancy.
So the first Bike of the Month competition has closed and we have a clear winner taking approximately 50% of the votes. I will admit that I voted for this bike. From the first time I saw it I liked it and even stole some of the ideas I had for a RGS Sprint. I did not know much about this bike except that the owner is called Kozo and resides in Japan hence the name I gave it ?Rising Sun?.I contacted Kozo requesting some info from him, below is his response:

Thank you for winning my LAVERDA at this month.

I tell you about my LAVERDA 1000 RGS.

The Ohlins supply from Carrozzeria Japan that type c43 at the full
length 800mm.??

http://www.carrozzeriajapan.co.jp/ohlins/2w/conventional.html

Than, wheels are from BITO R&D that type JB-1 18 inch, of MAGTAN made
from forging Magnesium.
The size of them which 3.00-18 front and 4.50-18 rear than tyre size
is 110/80-18 and 160/60-18.

http://www.jb-power.co.jp/top/top.html

The frame is genuine however has reinforced at each part also has
changed dimension
The swinging arm has made from aluminium by shop of my friend that
special order.
Than the chain size has changed to 520 which has done offset.

That is a summary of my LAVERDA 1000 RGS.

Best regards
Kozo

For January I selected all the bikes myself but hopefully as the competition evolves forum members will nominate their own bikes, they  might include some technical data  which will  provide additional interest particularly if each months winner was to feature in a calendar. I am pleased to say that I have another 5 bikes for February and even 1 for March. So please keep the nominations coming.

Not wishing to forget the other bikes as they are all great examples of Laverda?s and as I have said previously I would be proud to own.

Thanks for your participation.
