Probably a dumb question, but is there a source of parts for 750 SF2 in Victoria. At the moment I'm looking for bits like inlet valve oil seals and steering head spacers. But will need other bits and pieces as the build progresses. And while I'm asking dumb questions, I've read that the crankshaft needs to be handled with kid gloves because the balance is super sensitive, the balance can be corrected with a leather headed mallet etc, etc. Seems a bit over the top to me. But if this is so, how do we go about sending same to a rebuilder by freight service. Like I said, just a couple of dumb questions.

There are no dumb questions, there may however be stupid answers forthcoming, my advice, seens as you are asking the question is to join Club Laverda Victoria, you can contact Sergio via personal message on here, SergioC, he will guide you in the right direction  for all your needs and wants, and who knows, you may get to meet and  hang out with some other laverda dicks

Cosi, you put that so eloquently

Thanks all. I see the Laverda Owners Club Vic has a link to The Dam, and spare parts. Great.

Thanks Hooksey. Easy access to some of the best kept secrets in OZ. Looking forward to trying the legendary handling, oce she's back in one piece.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the loony bin.  Cranks are sensitive to drops etc but they're not made of sugar. The cranks are made up from several pieces pressed together and yes the prescribed method is to belt them in a particular way till all the bearing journals run true.  A drop does not so much affect the balance as possibly knocking it out of true, which will in turn induce vibration.  As long as you are careful with it you won't have an issue, it takes a fair amount of force in a localised spot to move them.
Greg at The Dam is an excellent resource for you, as is Club Lav Vic.  If the crank needs anything done to it then the recognised Laverda crank specialist in Australia is Red in Brissie.  I have sent him triple cranks wrapped up carefully with lots of high density foam packing in a big plastic tool box.  No problems in freight.
Cheers

G'day Steve, looks like we're getting lots of very helpful info. Spoke with Greg earlier today, and he said much the same. Looks like I'd better speak with Mr.Red.
Cheers
