Brembo and tank Paint Codes

I've just sand blasted and resprayed the brembo calipers and master cylinders on a 3cl satin black like the  existing paint on the frame. They look like shit. Can anyone give me the paint codes so I can do it all again.

While I'm at it, I may as well ask for the paint codes for Laverda orange, and black frame paint. ( yes, I know it should be silver...(my bike)).

Oh, and also while at it, what paint do I ask for the headers? It's an original satin black factory race pipe, and I don't want it to burn. Some people are telling me I should be using a ceramic coating for heat purposes. nfi (no ....... idea)

This girl I'm working on is nice. 4c cams, jota pistons, 36mm pumpers c/w proper brackets, factory race pipe. It had road legal tread on tyres that went off the market in 1983. one owner, I think it's done about 40K klm. It has had front end damage, but nothing serious.

I'm an electrician, so if you can give me the codes in volts, amps and ohms, I'll understand, but if not I guess you'll need to be technical so that I can take it to my paint supplier. Are Australian paint codes the same as international paint codes? I know our Electrical wiring rules are totally different..

Help would be appreciated.

Regards

Greg

First thing to do is strip the callipers and get them Anodized  :D You run the risk they will leak however. For some reason brembo's dont like being re anodised, they can go porous. If you need pistons and seals etc its cheaper to buy new callipers.
Paint codes are a waste of time. Find the colour you want and get the sprayer to match it. Borrow a side panel or something and use that.

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the madhouse... :o

Calipers are anodised originally. Paint is less resistant to brake fluid.
Original black frames were gloss black.
Try RAL2010 orange.
Just buy heat resistant black exhaust paint, that's what I do.

See here for Laverda paint references: http://www.laverdamania.net/paint.htm

Re anodising aluminium alloy parts like calipers requires to prepare them first by removing the colored oxide layer with a solution of Sulphuric acid.
When that coating is stripped, some aluminum is "eaten" and lost forever, it doesn't come back later !
If dimensions are critical (bores) better to know it before..

Yes the last ones i had done were just lightly blasted, the mating surfaces and piston bores were masked. I wouldn't recommend you put them in Acid. Maybe you dont need to unless you are going to colour change ?
here are some i had done recently , they are original colours.

Thankyou all for your responses! Some interesting points of view. Given that I'm refurbing and not restoring, I thank I might just get a 2 pack colour match for the Brembo's and spray over the top of what I have just put.

Then, when I retire in 10 or so years, and I have the time, I'll do it properly...

Regards to all

Greg.
