Hello everybody!

Just joined this forum

I stared to rebuild  a 750 sf1 engine and I found the crank case broken due to timing chain split.

I hope it is not too bad as the broken part can be seen from the oil filter bay.
Picture attached.
Seems that the broken part it is just a plat to avoid oil to be sprayed directly on the oil filter. I can't find a picture of the bottom of the crankcase.
Has any of you have one so I can see if can be simply welded?

Thank you

Raf

I've got two sets of cases in the shed, Raf. I'll ry and get a pic for you tomorrow - midnight here in Oz now. It shouldn't be too big a repair for a good welder.

Nothing wrong with that case.  They all look a bit ragged down there, the chain often snags there when feeding it in from the bottom.  The machining for the oil filter extends into the raw casting, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.

Ther does seem to be a shard waiting to break off at some point. I'd break itoff to remove it before it causes any harm.

Thank you guys! And thank you Piranha for the pic!
So I just smooth it and that should work.
I can't wait to look at the workshop manual to see how it was when manufactured!

Thank you again!

My pleasure - the iPhone has streamlined my pic posting ability no end  :D

As Piet said, maybe clean away some of the rough edges. Not sure you'll find a pic in the workshop manual??
