BTZ vs CDI Ignition Trigger Cam

The BTZ ignition plate on the Jota I am rebuilding is badly damaged, as is the trigger cam.
I was able to put together a replacement back plate from spare bits that I had.
I also have a spare trigger cam, but it is a CDI part.
The CDI and BTZ cams are similar, except that the CDI piece has a narrower cam.
The two parts are shown in the pic.    CDI is on the left and BTZ on the right.

Question:
Can I use the CDI cam, or do I need to source the BTZ version?
I do eventually plan to fit a Sachse unit, but would like to get the bike going with the existing unit.

Tom, I asked a similar question recently and was told they should be interchangeable as it's the leading edge that triggers the ignition.
Hope I remembered that right!

Thanks Grant, that's great!

The DPO either did not tighten, or allowed the back plate mounting screws to come loose.
The cam chewed up the plate pickups and destroyed itself in the process.
Total mess!

Looked at the two parts again and got to thinking about how use of the narrower cam would effect ignition timing.
My understanding is that the impulse would be triggered a little later than would be the case if the part with the wide cam were used.  Presumably, adjustment of the back plate would compensate for this.
