Buying Borranis on Ebay

Look nice, and certainly very cheap... but I doubt the spoke holes will be at the correct angle for the large Laverda drums.

Another thing to look out for is the welded joint, often quite a deal of runout at this spot.  Borranis were never very good in this respect, Akronts a lot better.

You are probably right about the angle, I will tell the guy who will build my wheels. Hopefully he fixes it.

The weld, does that mean it is neither worse nor better than original Borranis?

Dunno, never seen those rims.  Couldn't be much worse than the originals though. :D

Not sure the holes can be "fixed".  They need to exit the dimples at a completely different spot, would mean the holes end up a bit too big...

I bought 1 of these from him and was very happy with it

I fitted it to a Guzzi small block rear hub and the whole set up trued up very nicely

I will compare to my old rims and take some pictures.

Thank you, guys!

-  Seems to be a obvious difference.
- Cannot get the files uploaded, too large.
- Will upload later - have to go to work ;)

Would make much more sense to buy undrilled rims and go from there - I've drilled plenty with very good results (a 2.85" wide Borrani then several Akronts). Unless the rim is drilled for the hub size, spoke angles will be tortured. Also cheaper to buy undrilled tims - but then you need to either take it on yo'sef or pay an experienced fettler to do it.

Yes, definitely copy rims, Paul.
No Borrani stamped, and no markings.

Piranha - I am in Norway, I don't know about anyone who drills rims here. There might be someone, but noone I know about.
I got a fettler or a wheel builder and he says he can build the wheel and change the angles a bit. He has done it before and he has had no
problems with his own or other wheels he have done it with.

Next, question - where do I get spokes in the correct length?
Is the best bet Andy Wagner?

Regards Oddvar
