What effect would you get (a) retarding the exhaust cam 8 degrees
                                    (b) advancing the exhaust cam 8 degrees

On a 1200 with 7c cams

Try it!
Test it on a test bank, do a full mixture and ignition setup also,  Change it,  Test it and play with the complete setup again to optimize and see the results!  (Don't use "seat of the pants" that's where your Bollocks go)

Then tell us the results here.

Dave - You'd decrease the chances of valve/valve contact a lot - very useful on 7/C's. I didn't do any work with them - but would suggest trying advancing the exhaust 4-7 degrees and retarding the inlet around 4 degrees - this should get you more mid-range power and no (or virtually no) loss of top end. Many other factors will affect the result - but as julian said - give it a go - Regards - Phil

What valve sizes are you having there, please, and what piston/compression? Check valve clearance (to Piston and overlap....) before you start actually the engine... ;)
