Cell Shim Batteries

I ve found hollowing out normal round cell batteries ie from clocks ,make excellent (cuse the pun)shims,well within tolerance  for my A11 cams ie inlet open 46 before TDC Exhaust 68, 82 on close and 56.Just put the batteries on an engineers lathe and carefully cut around the back following the manufacturers line.Rechrome the case and its a goodun.Please make sure the discarded waste material is recycled and disposed of safely.
Seeing there is an endless supply of these and cheap looks good eh!

I've just fitted some and the timing is now spot on!

I didn't have time to get any clock batteries but I did find some in an old thermometer.  Now it seems to be running too hot

Tried your suggestion LJ but now my valve gaps are only correct every twelve hours :-[
