Ceriani 38mm fork tubes

I want to replace the SF2 Ceriani fork tubes.

Tube length 570mm & spring length 470mm.

So, can I use 580mm Ducati tubes (which I already have) with the laverda springs ?  Maybe a packing piece to preload the springs ?

Alternatively I have access to 610mm Ducati tubes, and 495mm springs. What I am trying to avoid is having to purchase 570mm tubes and postage costs etc. The SF2 resto is just a little over budget !!!

Of course you can use the 580s and use a spring spacer but the extra length will slow the steering. The springs are very old now and if you bought replacements from e.g. Racetech you have to be setting up sag with spacers anyway, and with emulators fitted standard springs are too long. I think you can drop your clamps a bit before conflict with standard handlebars.

Thanks for the response.

I also reckon pulling 10mm of tube through the clamps will still clear the handlebars.

I am getting too old for clip ons and rear sets.

Cheers,

Rob

If you use the 610 ones - you can fit clip-ons above the yokes on the extra tubing  - done this on one of mine - much more comfortable now - regards - Phil
