Ceriani forks

Hi does anyone know the best way to separate the stanchions from the lower fork bodies on Ceriani forks. I have taken the lower Allen bolt out of the leg but the stanchions seem reluctant to come out. I am reluctant to use excessive force without asking your advise first.
Any advice appreciated as always.

A firm tug should have them out in about 2.5 seconds flat...

Only the damper tube stuck in the sludge at the bottom of the slider!  Bit of resistance/softness from the rebound spring when pulling, just pull harder.

Once the bottom bolt is out, there's nothing holding the thing together.

You might find the alloy piston attached to the damper rod binding inside the stanchion, should be a quite loose sliding fit.  These tend to swell with time, came across a couple almost completely seized recently.  Not sure what causes this, perhaps an acidic brew resulting from moisture in the fork oil attacking the zinc/aluminium alloy?

Just been and tried, still not shifting. I'll re try after less beer. I've put the lower bolt back in and tightend and it is not pulling anything down before locking.. Just have to try harder.

You could also try pulling the slider as far down as it'll go, then screwing the 6mm screw back into the bottom of the fork, backing it off about 2 turns from "done up", and giving it a modest but sharp whack or 2 (with a suitable whack-transferring device like a piece of rod, or a 3/8 drive Allen tool). Might shock it loose.

then screwing the 6mm screw

Had me confused there but I get it now.

Sorted it. I ended up using a Land Rover water pump stud, sccrewed it in to the damper then tapped it through, there was enough protusion left while it move up the inner casting.

Bastard things. I can't even loosen the 6mm bolts. My electric impact wrench obviously does not have enough grunt, and now my knuckles don't have enough skin.

Try loosening the 8mm bolt instead, there's no 6mm in that place........

The thead might be 8mm but the head takes a 6mm Allen key, and as I haven't got the f&%ks out I have no idea what the thread is  :-*
