Germany,
Hi here is Mike,

i?m new in laverda forum and a new Laverda owner. I?vd by a 1982 Laverda 1000 Jota. I want to restart my new Lady very carefully, e.g. I want to change the engine oil before start the engine. How to do this? Is it necessary to rebuild the exhaust? Is it possible to get pictures / written instructions how to chance the engine oil?

thanks a lot
Mike

Hi Mike,
you would do well to get a copy of this, some older ones on ebay
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laverda-Triple-Repair-Tune-up-Guide/dp/0979689104

the oil is drained via a plug under the gearbox
if you want to clean the oil sieve recommended (there is no conventional filter) you need to drop the exhaust to access the 3 housing stud nuts
use a new O ring on the sieve housing on reassembly.
Nominal capacity is 3L but best to check on the oil dipstick.
Note oil level is measured with the dip stick fully unscrewed and seated on the crankcase housing.

VERTICAL, not at the angle that its threaded into the case at. Bike must be vertical as well. There are other things that should be done if the bike has sat for a long time. Putting a couple of caps of that fresh oil into the cylinder after pulling the plugs and spinning the engine for a minute might help. Hope the carbs are not gummed up with old fuel residue. Good luck with a good startup.

Hello Mike,

I assume you're German. A copy of the repair manual in German is available for free online, and I believe in the technical section of the German Laverda Forum.

Regards
Gerald
