Clutch refit

Hi
On a 1000 triple when trying to put clutch back it does not seem to
engage the springs, I can push from other side but seem to be to far to
activate clutch, is the clutch plates supposed to be tight together
when the springs are done up, I have 7 mm gap
Between inside of outer plate and last friction
plate, they measure 30 mm when together and it's like nothing is happenind
I can feel the bar moving inside but it's too far away to do anything
Must be something obvious?!?

even though it looks like you can install the pressure plate in any position, in actual fact, there are only two positions from the six available that will work
you do not have the splines lined up so pressure plate is not bearing on the clutch plates

Clutch plates should of course be very tight together when the springs are done up, otherwise: no clutch.
You should not hear the or feel the "lift" bar moving. Make sure that it locates correctly before when putting pressure plate on.
