Hiya
Commencing with replacing Cush drive rubbers ,,,
I have removed the rivets and noticed there
Are 3 small cracks in cover ( ok o guess?)while tapping out
To 6x 1 mm thread , so far so good with job so far but
Question is what bolts to use, mild steel, stainless or high
Tensile ?
Small dop of lock tite will go well when ready
It's the silly questions we don't ask that
Will get us stuck so appreciate help

Obviously been mentionned elsewhere, Loctite and no washer on bolt otherwise the bolt heads mill the webs on the primary cover.

Only on the 750's Paul - triples are OK. I use 7mm bolts (7*20) as the rivet holes are often ovalled out to more than the 6mm core size of 5mm. - I do have a load in stock if anyone needs them. - Regards - Phil

I stand corrected though it isn't mentionned anywhere that we're talking triples.
Is this a triples only forum?

I checked through Aroundtoit's previous post and saw he was asking for an alternator puller - hence realising he had a triple - would have been handy if he had said!! - regards - Phil

like Phil I have found that the rivet hole can be a little bit too large for a complete thread form with 6mm bolts, so I got round it by "Timecerting" then to 6mm from outset.

Pedant alert!

Sorry, it was badly messing with my OCD.
:D

Steve, I clicked on your Time-Sert (note actual correct spelling with hyphen) link and saw "Ford spark plug blow-out?
Repair kit part number 5553 Ford Triton spark plug kit will repair blown out spark plug's :o in Ford heads."
"plug's"? What does a person with serious OCD (self-acknowledged pedant, too) do now? :D :D

and use a drill press to drill, countersink and tap the holes (turn the chuck by hand for tapping) and also the tin plate as a drill guide, get one bolt done, bolt it on then drill the oposite side and bolt that on, then drill the remainder.
