hi @ all,
i do not remember the thread, but somebody was interested in the
db killer of the sfc megaphon exhaust.

here are some pictures of mine:

the length is 42 cm
the diameter of the ends is 6cm.

without it sounds like hell , with the db eater it is nearly street legal in germany with something 105 db.

Fly wire shoved up there while being checked, easy to pull out after the check  ;)

Not so easy over here, Chris.

Authorities have the right to impound vehicles on the spot if they determine they do not comply with regulations.  Doesn't happen very often, but there is a spot close by the Nuerburgring where the police stage hold-ups regularly.  Mainly for speeding, 80km posted, average speeds are around 170-190 according to the people of the village imediately next to the road!  Record is allegedly 253km/h!   Not unknown for bikes to be pulled off for exceeding noise limits as well.

Much the same for race bikes, many events here have noise checks randomly posted around the track.  Anybody reasonably over the limit is black-flagged!

So why are all the deadshits on excessively loud modified hardley drivables allowed to get away with it? Are the plod too gutless to take them on?

Hi Piet,

I heard of 3 for NRW. Maybe that was just in the testing phase?!?

BTW: the cops are NOT allowed to impound vehicles that are "just" to loud, but they are allowed to take your exhaust to check it is legal or illegal. That said, without an exhaust you are also not allowed to move on... But if you have a buddy willing/able to bring you a legal replacement, they can't hold you from continuing the ride. And they can write you a ticket ("M?ngelkarte") so that you have to bring your bike to a MOT/T?V station to prove it is changed back into legal conditions.

The bavarian police had to learn that lesson hard: they got taken to curt by several bikers who claimed back the money the police charged for transporting the bike to their parking spot for examination as well as the cost for getting the rider back home, the cost for renting a replacement bike etc. etc. - several thousands of Euro per Biker...

The local (NRW/Pfalz) authorities were smarter, they only ever wrote tickets or kept the exhaust... ;)
