I sometimes anneal the washer. Spent an hour once looking for a washer after I assumed it had rolled away. Then I found it on the bolt ha ha. Well they are thin !
From a torque aspect I always do an angular torque fro bottomed out about 20 degrees. Never had no problems at all. Im sure my Beemer manual has a torque value. The Germans are very good with the details and its the same plug thread if I remember rightly.
