Good day,
I am new to this forum.
Am looking for all over-Egli Laverda 750.
Pictures, owners, Frame Numbers produced,
Reports in magazines ......
I am happy about every message.

Welcome! This is my Egli.

As far as I have been able to count in the past 25 years, only a hand full genuine Swiss Egli 750s was produced in the early 70ies. The official Egli book states 25, but if that were the case I know that in the meantime I would have discovered more..

As far as I know I am the only genuine Egli Lav 750 owner on this forum so afraid I'm your man.  ;)

I don't know much about the Egli Laverda's ..... sorry. Marnix would know much more.

I do know that a shop in Italy has been making new Egli frames for Vincents and Ducati's. I have a connection to the shop. I could ask if they will make a Egli-Laverda.

I have heard it said that there were only about six genuine Egli Laverda frame kits made by the man himself,
There was only ever one officially licensed builder of Egli frames at the time and that was Graham Binnion, here in the UK, he did make at least a couple of "genuine" Laverda 750 frame kits, so you might look at a world total of only eight units, but who knows?
There have been literally dozens of copies, Fritz Egli at  one time listed fourteen "fakers" but as far as I am aware none of these were for the twins, Moto Martin did two very nice ones (for triples) as Did Moko in Australia.
I also have a non Egli, it was the first frame made by Graham Binnion after he lost (or relinquished) his license from Mr. Egli. It does not have a straight "backbone" but mine is cut and shut to lower the seat height, it is also monoshocked (my conversion) and fitted with leading links forks (my design ,but made by Ray Wilson) and has a single disc with two callipers operating for the front stopper and a single fully floating rear disc.

good luck with the search

Friend of mine is officially licenses by Mr. Egli to reproduce Egli Frames. They come including an official Certificate and an Egli Frame-Number. If you need contact-Information, let me know. As far as I know, he has to pay royalties to Mr. Egli, therefore this Frame comes for about 1.800? or so. It is a bare frame though with the engine holding plates, but without Swingarm as far as I know (which can be used from a donar bike, fits right into the frame) and without footrest holder plates, no paint or plating.

You can also still purchase directly from Egli AFAK. Have seen some pics of a rolling chassis for about 10.000? or so.. (no tank or seat or anything, just frame, wheels, swingarm and fork). See: http://www.egli-racing.ch/de/occasionen3.html (no Laverda, but you get the point...).

EDIT: seems my information is outdated... Fritz seems to have handed over the business and the new Manager does not want to cooperate... so - no new Egli Frames from my friend anymore...  :-[

I've got an Egli Vincent, it's a UK built frame, I think Graham Binnion, but I'm not 100% sure.
John Mossey built it originally; mine is frame number 1 from Mossey.

As you know, Slater had the UK licence from Fritz to build Egli Vincents before they got involved in Laverda's

Mossey claimed at the time to have taken over Egli Vincents in the UK, but I think like everyone else building Egli Vincent's, they are doing it without Fritz's licence; not sure.

The exception is Patrick Godet, who builds some very nice Egli Vincents under licence from Fritz, although mucho expensive!

Looks like Andy Sidlow who put together a Laverda twin and triple frame has also built some Egli frames but for Vincents.

Hi from Chris in Scarborough,  I have just found your Laverda  site and can maybe have some more info for you on the Egli Laverda 750.  I was the sales manager at Watkinson Motors in Scarborough from 1964 till 2009 and we were Laverda agents in the 70s, we always had our machines from the Slater bros, Richard and Rodger in Bromyard. Part of the time Dave Minton called on us as their rep, he was also an excellent journalist and did many articles in the motor cycle mags in that era.  Through Dave I bought a new Egli Laverda with the sfc750 engine, it was a fine machine and I sold it on after a about a year to a customer from the York area.  I have some photos and info if anyone whishes to get in touch.  All the best Chris Tilley.

Hi Chris,
I was in Scarborough at the weekend, and drove past what I seem to recall 'Dawson's of Scarborough??' now a furniture shop!
Used to press my nose against the window as a kid on summer hols there, and my moped originally came from there too (Puch VZ50, the shame I wanted a Fizz but couldn't afford one!!)
My first Laverda a 3CE with wire wheels coincidentally came from Dawsons too, strange as I live in Nottingham!
So, did Dawsons take over from Watkinson, or is my memory really shot!!
Cheers
Steve
