Egli style 750 frame

HI

I'm sure this topic has been discussed over and over but anyway... I'm planning to build an Egli style frame and as for now I'm doing some research.

For years Ive had in mind to build a sfc replica out of my SF1 pile of parts, but now i feel that cutting and modifying the original frame would be unwise.
I just cant let go of the thought to build some kind of "racer".

Anyway I have some questions that I need Your help with:

Wheelbase?

Angle of steeringhead?

Any suggestions for balance factor when it comes to build the engine?

I'm planning to use mild steel (because I have it at work...)

Any input is mostly welcome.

You mean you going to Weld the Frame by yourself? There is a Guy in Germany who is use to build them allready, named Br?hel... He is using some old fashion Framegeometry, I would sugesst you to take a modern Geometry, otherways you could allready take a Stock Frame...

As I recall Graham Binnion used a head angle of 63 degrees (or 27, depending which way round you measure it) when he was building Egli frames.

Do a search under "Breuhl" which is the correct spelling.

I just put my Bruehl frame on the scales. At 12.5Kg that's way lighter than your SF frame is ever going to be!

My sources tell me it should weigh in at 12.68kg with the correct welds  :P

Thanks Fellows!

Thanks for the information so far. At this point my concern is to create a good flat surface to work on and then start to make templates out of mdf, get some gutterpipes and make a mockup frame. Some good fun coming my way hopefully.

I wish I had time to burn like you do!
Didn?t Red refer to a book he had all about frame design and steering geometry? Red?
It would pay to do a lot of research before you start. There are many variables to consider.
Keep us posted.

Tippie, I need to burn for something to keep my mind from things that burns me out...

Andy, thanks for the books. Ill get one as soon as possible.
