I'll be firing my bike up soon, first time since it's rebuild. Whilst it's on the bench I was wondering about an issue I had with the rev counter. My needle never goes much over 6k, and yes I do know how the throttle works! It also waves around badly on it's way there, I've really got no idea what the revs are when winding it up. I'm a little concerned now as I've got new liners, rings and valve seats, want to be a bit more careful whilst running them in.
My questions is this, has anybody fitted an electronic tacho picking up from the coils? I was thinking of something like this on a temporary basis...

I have a Witt2 (bronze coloured box) and I've mislaid the instructions, is there a wire running from this I can use for a tacho? Am I correct in remembering it has a 8k rev limiter, built in?
