Hey all,

I am looking at fitting indicators to my '73 3C. Would any one here have some good photos of the way the indicator stalks attach the the front bracket and the way the rear single rod sits with the rear tail light assembly?

cheers

Julian

Hi Julian the rear indicators are mounted onto a tube that bolts onto the rear of the licence plate the front are bolted through short mounting tubes that bolt the headlight onto the headlight support plates.

I think Gowanlocks sells a Stainless front mount,I eventually shortened the rear bracket, stupidly long to comply with equally stupid road rule dimensions.Looks way better now and much less likely to wack anything.

Be careful if purchasing them from Gowanlochs as the front mounts they sell are for Ducati which are 10mm both ends where as the Laverda ones are 10mm on the indicator end but are only 8mm on the headlight end. Guess it might depend if original headlight shell or not.
Wolfgang has them at a good price though along with the rear mount as well I would hazaard a guess.

Guess you could modify the Gowanloch ones at  a pinch.

Thanks Maurice this is just what I need. I got all the bits from Wolfgang so I am good to go. Fingers crossed the switch and wiring have stood the test of time.

Beautiful bike there BTW Maurice.

Were indicators fitted as standard to the early 3Cs? I notice none of Marco's are wearing any and there's none on #1173... Might have to look into fitting some too. I expect the switchgear has the wiring in it but, if not standard, then I doubt the loom contains the appropriate wiring or flasher unit/ relay etc. I expect Wolfgang can supply the full kit...

Julian if you open your headlight you will see if the wires from your left hand switch block are feeding two sets of multiwire spade connectors if original they will be yellow looping wires these are the junctions for the indicator circuits you may also have a brown and green running in the main loom down to the rear of the bike these are the feeds for the rear indicators.

Andrew some early triples had indicators and some didn't I think it may have come down to the country of origin.
The drum brake triples sold into Australia had Lucas indicators, the rear ones picked up the bolt that supports the rear seat, and the front had a short plate to the arm that picked up the headlight bolt.
