Out of interest for the technically minded who find that Laverda freewheels are not the best.
This is the freewheel by François Grosset on my Vincent.
I took it out because it was inconsistent and as expected, it was full of old congealed grease. Should be better now.
Originally mounted in 2006.
It's a strange system that drives the mainshaft, as does the kickstart, and ultimately the crank via the clutch and the primary transmission complete with crank mounted shock absorber, ESA (engine shock absorber) in British bike parlance.
The ratchet in the centre is for the kickstart. The freewheel cleverly replaces the original kickstart ratchet on the mainshaft.
