Fork legs- replacement or re chrome?

Cerianis on the 3C went to god 15 years ago.  Replaced with a set of marzos off a 78 jota.  Rust got real bad 12 months ago, grabbed the forks off the project '81 jota, which had been sitting in a back yard for 15 years.  Funnily enough they are rusty!  Time to fix.

Mine are now Dam, I couldn?t get them done for that price.

Looks like Dam has them new $320 each.  Quality?  Would it be better to have them rechromed?  They are not bent.

The tubes I have on my SF2 were done by RAD hard chrome in Brisbane were slightly bent top job. I've had 3 pairs done in the last six months $420 pair look new great job

Original Ceriani have a step in them, so making them thicker where the bottom triple clamp is located.  Have found this on 35 and 38 dia forks on 750's and 76 3CL.
Also seem to be a thicker wall thickness than replacements available.

My experience with replacement fork staunchions (TNK) for triples has been that original nuts do not fit, and you can F about for hours trying to get them to screw in.  Thread seems to be slightly different, just enough to cause problems, so you need their nuts as well. These were 2 pairs of staunchions purchased direct from Italy, not via DAM.

I would go with RAD if forks are not damaged with erosion caused by horns shorting on them (when the brackets break).  They do a good job of straightening them and will advise if they consider unsafe to straighten.
RAD are cheaper than here in Sydney in my experience, including chap in Lidcombe whose costs are higher even if cash.
