front axle spacer 3C

Hi learned ones I have a question regarding the front axle spacer that sits against the left hand fork leg and the left wheel bearing in the hub, I am in the process of finishing an early 3C with ceriani 35mm forks and after fitting the front brake calipers I noticed the left caliper was sitting off centre too close to the inside after some conversations with a mate with an imperial slide rule he suggested this spacer may be too short as when I loosen the assembly I can get the caliper to sit central over the rotor but with a gap between the spacer and the wheel bearing, can someone tell me firstly is the spacer different in length to a cast wheel bike or can someone tell me the correct length for this spacer.
Yours in my ever learning quest for Laverda knowlege

If you're still scratching your head after trying Marnix's suggestion, it's not difficult to work out the spacer thickness you need to get your fork legs parallel and the brake disks the same distance from the fork legs on either side. Presuming your forks and triple clamps aren't bent, loosen the axle pinch bolts, rotate the axle and let the forks find their own position. Then make a spacer to fill in whatever gap you end up with between wheel bearing and fork leg. Hopefully then your brake rotors will be centred in the calipers. If not, you may need to shim the caliper mounts.

Give me a shout if you want a spacer made up and don't have access to a lathe.

I told him the same as it goes and the Red 3c is 18mm by the by....

I checked the spacer in the bike in question and it is 16mm I haven't had a look at the SFC but I may drop it out tomorrow your 18mm sounds closer to what mine should be Brett.
Thanks Cam I will let you know.
Bloody hell its hot here tonight!

I was going to say there is that 2mm offset you find when you swap the brake callipers around that needs to be accounted for but that's with 38mm forks so I have no idea with 35s

No Skype barely a phone and a bruise on the dashboard of my car after smashing it from a huge shit fight on the phone with someone in Manilla from Telstra regarding no NBN no phone no fucking nothing.

Maurice cant afford to do something as outrageous as swapping the calipers to the rear... not with the chief Rivet counter a regular at his joint.

Ah ya got to love Telstra now dont ya

I could write a book about my 2 months without internet last year, seems it was a Cat 4 tech issue when Cat 3 was there highest. It went around and around till by complete accident someone who had some tech knowledge was tripped over and was fixed in 15 minutes then. All very polite and seemingly organised but they seemed incapable of doing anything not done 15 times before
