Hi all, I remember someone mentioning as part of another topic,  how to coax one of these back to life.. but I'm dammed if I can find the thread. With a meter, I can see mine wants to work... if I squeeze the lever hard and wait, the needle gets there in little stages... but I, the MOT tester and drivers behind me would appreciate a little more responsiveness  :)
Thanks in advance, Andrew

you dont legally have to have a stop light for both brakes, but if fitted it must work etc etc,so you could blank the front switch off, and in fact many would say that they imterfere with feel at the lever, come to that you dont even have to have the brakes on the front and back wheels, you can have two independant braking systems (that is what is required by law) and they can legally both be on the back wheel, scary or what?
get a new switch cheap and easy to do

I got told once that if a vehicle originally came fitted with 2 brake light switches then they should both be present and correct.
But maybe it was just a pissed off MOT tester...
He also didn't accept my bulb horn, or my spark plug rammed in the end of a cut off downpipe.
No, it wasn't a Laverda it was a SLAJS. (SL 125 with fuck-off AJS shocks)

Photos do exist!

I know that " if it's fitted, it has to work" I don't think most early bikes had a light operated by the front brake... my 1981 triumph did not.

Bulb horns were OK until about 1989 when the rules changed. Has to be a continuous sound now. I got turned back too  :(

OK, I'll buy a new switch.  Thanks all.

Well my experiences were in the mid 70s.
I still think these testers used to make it up as they went along.
I remember hanging out at a Stirling bike shop and overhearing the mechanic telling the shop owner there was no way he was going to let a scooter pass it's test. On point of principle!!!  :D

I hope you dont meet anyone like that at the Spanish MOT spot Grant.  :D
