Front end length

I  replaced the fork legs on my 1979 Jota and they appear to be a little too long. Both wheels now sit on the ground when the bike is on the center stand. Can anyone tell me what the distance should be between the bottom of the bottom triple clamp and the center line of the axle. Will there be any unwanted side effects if I were to push the forks up through the triple clamps.
Why, on this forum, does the word Jota come up in the Spell Check as being incorrect, surely that could be added to the dictionary.

thanks

Ian,

Quite a few questions there  ;)

When you say "legs" do you mean you replace the whole forks apart from the yokes, or just the stanchions?  If just the stanchions, they would need to be specific to your model/year. Sounds like they are simply longer (??). If the whole forks - they would have to come off a similar Laverda to be the right length.

JLO's site gives some information on fork lengths (http://www.laverdamania.net/).

You can push the forks up through the clamps as far as you like...BUT...if you have Jota bars, they will stop you doing that and you would have to fit clip-ons.

Dictionary is not a Laverda one, so not only will it not recognise Jota, but also many other important words (like Laverda  :o ).

HTH
