Thinking of replacing the IKONS on the yellow peril, back's starting to play up a bit and I need something with a bit more compliance.
Any thoughts on which brand and model would suit best and any helpful suggestions would be appreciated (except the obvious ones, like getting a hardly ridable etc. etc  ;)).

Terry

both are quality-wise way better than the Koni, that is for sure. I do not have any direct experience with the Gazi but only have heard good things from them. If they are close to the YSS or even better, let the price decide which one to take.

But - for which bike, please? Laverda for sure, but.... ;)

Sorry Lothar, should have included that little bit of vital information, they would be for an RGS.

Terry

OK then... :-)

As said, I don't know to much of the Gazis else than that people that have them find them great.

For the YSS, depending on what your riding style is, I would suggest to take standard ones for normal long term road riding. RZ362-360TRL-01 is the right one for you. Length is 360mm and can be adjusted to 369 max. If you are tall and like a bit quicker stearing, you could go for 370mm long ( Part No: RZ362-370TRL-01).

Price in Germany for a set is 469? (Listprice)

If you want some with external reservoir and rebound and compression damping, it is the "G"-Series and the part number would be RG362-360TRCL-01 in 360 mm or RG362-370TRCL-01 in 370mm. They are 699? a set in Germany. F.e.: ?hlins would be twice that price, Wilbers almost twice the price...

Hope that helps

Hi Terry
The YSS guys are South Australian based so it would make sense to drop in on them for a chat

http://www.yss-suspension.com/

I think the CLQ gets a 10% discount from Gazi and I'm sure something can be arranged

I dare you

:D

I double dare you to try the search function on the forum, you'll knock your self out  :D

Last set of shocks I bought were Bitubo and I reckon they are fine. Less expensive than either Gazi or YSS but not 'cheap'. http://www.ppmp.net.au/ he's got 366mm length to suit RGS delivered for under $600

I too have a back problem that seems to be getting worse, funnily enough the most comfortable be hike I can travel in/on is my Guzzi 1000SP. The slight lean forward is spot on, leaning back in a car seat etc has me reaching for the pills

Cheers
Jason

G'day Jason,
Did a search on the forum and was overcome with information, just wanted to know how the two compared as I know some of the QLD blokes had tried them out. To be honest, a bit of laziness was also involved, just wanted a quick comparo.
I'll give the YSS mob here in Adelaide a call, thanks for the info.

Terry

Now there's an idea, would have to work out which one is best, work out how many left/right corners there are on my favorite bit of road and fit accordingly. Question for debate; in a left-hand corner, should the most efficient shock be mounted on the left or right ::)

Terry the indecisive

Bloody hell, where do you find this shit Jason, too much time in on your hands :D

Hey Terry ,

Got the Gazis on my 81 Jota , got no probs with the way they bounce.
( Shit on the old Koni and Marzos )

They are built well , big shaft big spring , think they come outta the
same factory in Thailand as YSS  :-\ :-\

In saying that i have YSS on my 750LAV and 2 x Dirt trackers , Walter in
Adelaide (yss) top bloke to deal with and will build to suit you and your
riding style ( might even throw in some cream for those long sessions
in the saddle , and some matching YELLOW springs  :P)

You cant go wrong either way
Hooksey.

Thanks Hooksey,
Looks like I'll be giving Walter a call.
You can have too much yellow you know ;).
Terry

Running Gazi on our GS1000 racebike. Very pleased with them.

We told the distributor what spring we were using and were told that equated to their lightest - and they'd only sold one set of those.
Are all aussie Post Classic racers fat bastards ?
I'd suspect that the differences between the shocks may come down to what springs are available for each.
