Gear lever adjustment

Hi all,

Any tips/tricks for moving the gear lever round a spline on an '81 Jota so the lever sits lower to get the boot under/over? I've undone the footpeg itself but there seemed to be very little movement between the two splined plates and I'm out of adjustment on the rod - it's as short as it'll go.

Thanks!

Joe

No problem at all with shifting it on the spline. The splines give coarse adjustment and the thread on the rod ends gives fine adjustment. Between them you should be able to find a position that fits your foot.

I had to do something odd, how unusual for me. I think I needed to shorten the rod to get the links as square to the rod as I wanted and fast ran out of thread internally.
Just like Laverda handlebars, it's not so easy to get perfect as you might think. Ideally, it needs to be square, get it too obtuse and the links will over rotate during a shift, not good.

If they're Tarozzi rearsets, you can also adjust the angle of the lever arm on the pedal too. They have a kind of vernier adjustment. Just take them apart by undoing the ring nut (will need a pin spanner to fit the 2 holes in the ring) and reassemble in a different position.

You've got to split the two, lever sections, apart.

Lever sections? Do you mean the splined rings which has the lever attached to one? I couldn't seperate the two splined rings to move the one with the lever on it round a spline or two and couldn't see how to. I undid the footpeg completely thinking it was all held together by the footpeg mounting bolt but it still didn't want to move round a spline.

Further investigation at the weekend me thinks!
