My mirage has a  gearchange problem sometimes when changing up from 3rd to 4th it goes past the gear and I have to touch the top of the gearlever to get it to select properly .is this fixable without stripping it down other than that the gearchange is ok

G'day Merlin

You could try adjusting the eccentric peg that limits the travel of the gear selector. You'll find it under the triangular cover on the right side of the gearbox where the gearshift shaft disappears into the gizzards of the bike. Just take the gear lever (or linkage) off, remove the 3 screws and the cover will come off. You'll find the peg between the ends of the return spring - you'll see how it works when you're looking at it. There's oil in there though - easiest way to deal with that is simply to lean the bike over rather than drain the sump, unless you're doing an oil change anyway.

Cheers,
Cam

It's either that or the tensioning spring for the selector drum.
That's an engine out, upside down, crankcase off job, all for a 50p part.
I did it once in 4 hours start to finish with a few reluctant slaves willing helpers.
You will need side casing gaskets, some special tools and crankcase sealant.
