"green" gaskets

Keith can supply the best gaskets in the UK - he's got my stock of UK made gaskets - I had great discussions with the manufacturer when the asbestos ones were banned and we came up with a well tested alternative material, the gaskets are also graphited to give original colour.
Re the idea that the crank may be out of true - we had one sent to us from Clem's favourite crank repair man many years ago - after the customer fitted it the alternator cover moved around a massive amount - he'd forgotten to true crank up, and, as we'd not had any problems with alignment before this, we never checked it first (did from then on) - Regards - Phil

I wish you had put Clem's favourite crank man in inverted comma's Phil. I think I get your underlying meaning, in that he is no longer my favorite crank man.( "curled" small end bushes coming lose after only 40,000 miles, they should do 200,000)

This crank has not been interfeared with, and is in seemingly excellent condition haveing been removed from a bike by a breaker about 25 years ago, then carefully stored until I fitted it recently.I just bolted it in, it is factory built and probably not very high mileage. The bike runs very well and is good and strong. It is possible that the crank is out, due to emanating from a crashed bike (maybe, could have just been a grotty bike), but I dont think so,I will clock it, but by eye, and with the motor running, both with alternator on and off the bike, I dont see anything.

Asbestos has gone from gaskets? well I hadnt thought of that one, but yes I suppose it had to, perhaps there is more to this than we think, and leaning back to the gaskets,

CLEM
