GTL tank dimensions

Is the GTL fuel tank the same length & fittings as the earlier GT ?

The GT tank is shorter and the seat is longer so you can sit closer to the bars.

Haven't compared it to a GT tank, but it is quite a bit shorter than the SF/1/2/3 tank, about 5-6cm.  The front part is identical in shape to the SF, only the rear half is different.  As it is also quite narrow at the rear, it is a lot more comfortable than the GT tank, especially the early wide type.

Thanks Piet.

Being shorter than the SF tank sounds like it will match up with my GT seat which extends further forward.

Shorter tank narrower at the rear combined with high GT bars on set back risers sounds far more comfortable.

Am sure Piet or someone else will confirm but I think that the GT tank is some what wider at the back than a GTL tank.

Yes James, 2 types of GT tank.

Early=wide, later(flip-up cap)=narrow.  Frame and seat to suit.  1st. series GT and some very early S were the only models with the wide frame.  Later bikes all share basic frame dimensions.  Early wide frame also had a shorter swing arm.

Frame width differs by about 3-4cm.
