Header pipes

Only pain in the arse bit is with the big bore system is getting it to clear the frame at the bottom of the headers and having the big bore collector clear the centrestand and having the mufflers sit at a pleasing angle and not to far out to the side of the bike.I end up with the collector over the case mesh filter cover .So to clean the mesh filter the whole friggen lot must come off.Not much fun lining it all up again

Didn't have the down tube straightened by any chance did you Padders??

I may indeed be a tit at times, but not that big a tit!!! Headers are 40mm and the left hand one sits about 2 mm from the frame!!!

Whilst on the subject of exhausts, how much clerance should there be between the frame and left hand header? i fitted my three into one headers a couple of days back and the clearance is next to nothing, could squeeze through a couple of fag papers and thats about it.

My 'standard' Armour stainless pipes measure about 35.50mm dia and I have around 5.5mm clearance to the left hand crimped frame downtube.
In theory if I fitted 40mm headers I would have a gap of roughly 3mm to the crimp.

If you have a fag paper gap, then it doesn't sound outrageously far out - just that your paint will probably get a bit burnt!!!!!!!
You might want to try the same trick on the header pipe as the frame and put a small flat at a strategic point, OR shift the engine left slightly, which may create some more opportunities for you. :D

Did one bike and the header was the a for said fag paper gap. watched it on first runs and checked temp of down tube after decent test run paint stayed same colour and did not get hot. As the only fix was to indent the header and it did not seem to be making any effect so left it as it was. It did look a bit iffy though.
