Hello all,SFC 1000 & Tyres

Still balance all tyres we sell on a static jig.  What's good enough for Valentino, is plenty good enough for my customers. :D  Quick check of bearing condition is part of the routine.

Used to balance car wheels statically as well, but these were 175/70-13s max on 5" or 6" rims back then.  Quite OK for the performance and speeds available at the time.

Had a rear wheel bearing come loose in the hub on the left hand side, put it down to a slightly warped disc. Repaired by shimming the gap with a bit of coke can and replacing the disc. Lasted for years until I replaced the wheels.

Just for interest, the tyre fitters at Moto GP and WSB still balance wheels on static jigs. They are, however, highly skilled individuals with vast experience. Their work schedule over a race weekend is bordering on slave labour.
Maybe at that level, but I vividly remember a club endurance race in France where We almost physically had to prevent an apoplectic Andy B from lynching a french tyre fitter, who he felt had inadequately balanced the wheel from his mate?s Ducati he was racing..

Update. Today I had fitted Avon Road riders and new tubes. Spent some time cleaning the wheels as well that Had minor corrosion on them. I used a local one man company that supplied an fitted which is how I like it. Small start on a project that I will do over summer. Thanks for advice.
Enclosed. Some progress.

Gosh not easy to add photo's here!! had to email to myself through Outlook that allows to reduce size, download and save. By that time  original posting froze so I made a new one. Anyway new tyres and bike starting recommissioning.

It's getting to be a right pain in the backside finding tyres for 750s.

I disagree, there seems to be a pretty good range of tyres for them these days from Bridgestone, Avon, Continental and others. Start a thread for it and see how many pages come out of it.
On my 17" equipped street SF, there is even good availability of 150 rears, which wasn't the case ten years ago.
