Help Identifying Generator

After lurking for some time on the forum, I finally decided to join.  This is my first post so I apologize in
advance for any errors in protocol.

I am attempting to bring a 1974 3C back to life.  She is serial number 1592.

The previous owner installed a non-Laverda generator to the bike.  The sales advertisement when I purchased
the bike stated the generator was from a Honda.  It is a Nippon Denso generator and the markings on the outside
of the rotating assembly are:  ND LNZ01 037000-1700 9BX Japan

The 18 pole stator has 9 BX stamped on it.

The rotor has been bolted to the original Laverda flywheel magneto cover after some home machining.  The base
plate for the stator also shows signs of home machining.  I do not know any more regarding this generator.  I have
tried using a few search engines to identify this generator but have had no success.  Does anyone have any
suggestions or insights to offer?

The bike is fitted with DMC/2 unit and ran well before disassembly.  I have uploaded pictures in the 3C gallery of the
forum and will try to provide links.

Thanks to all that have provided support and help in the past!

Hi Sandy,
Welcome to the forum.
That is an early version triple you have there, nice bikes.

Need to see larger photo's, is very difficult to identify the units from the small thumbnails you posted in the gallery.
Base plate and rotor look very similar to the units used on an IIS ignition system but I need to see the photos in better detail.

Where abouts in the wporld are you anyway, you may have some fellow owners quite close that can assist.

Many thanks to all for the kind replies.  I have read in posts that the Laverda community is very
welcoming and you've have shown such.

Stefan, thanks for the identification.  It appears the Bosch hub has been reduced in diameter to fit inside
the Honda rotor.  The two are held together by four countersunk Allen screws.  These screws have their
ends ground down flush with the outside of the rotor.  As this appears to be a home brewed construction,
I hope the centers of the two are aligned.

The base plate also appears to be machined for a reduction in diameter.  Some metal from the outer edges
of the screw holes is missing.  The plate does fit really nice in the Laverda generator plate.  That notch in the
plate is homemade also...provides a path for the coil leads.

Rob, thanks for the enhancement of the original pictures.  I am going to try again to show the underside of
the hub/rotor assembly.

Oh, me and 1592 are located in the northeastern U.S.....state of Connecticut.

Here goes another try at pictures....

Hey Sandpebbles,

I too have a 1974 3C I'm getting road worthy and am in Northern NJ, we'll have to meet up when the weather breaks. Maybe near Bear Mountain Bridge.

Bigdaddy,

Meeting up sounds great...I don't think the 3C will be running by them, as I currently have
limited time and money to put into the project.  I am hoping for big progress mid-summer.

Is your 3C road worthy?  I have about a zillion questions for you...

There is a BMW in my garage that is ready to make the trip.  Stay in touch and we'll meet up
in the near future.

My 3C may hold the record for the most time up on the lift/bench.

Over 23 years...

Been motivated since I found this web site and making progress now.

We can do some shake down runs and meet up with Rusty Spokes at
"South of the Border" late summer...

My boss sez I'll be unemployed by then so I'll have time.

Hey I think this is my first hi-jacked post!

Ha!

Are those saddle bags full of gold ingots? At least you can get the front wheel off!

Yep..those BT45 tires were a smaller overall diameter for tire size. I fitted the same size Avon AM26s later and the bike is closer to the ground on the center stand.

I'm not telling what was in the panniers. Trade secret.
