Help with Series2 motor please

I've just rescued a 81 jota motor from the floor of a dodgy no previous Laverda experence m/c workshop. The owner wants me to reassemble for him. They broke rings trying to refit the barrels, had ago at fitting a new witt ign.system and looks like they gave up. The alt. and starter clutch is also in bits. I've never had anything to do with a series2 motor so It's all new to me. While waiting for new rings thought I'd start with the r/h end of the crank and refit the sprag clutch and Alternator. There is new springs, rollers and plungers and the cover plate has been removed.
1st ?, is that plate rivited like the 750 set-up, if it is what's the best way to reattach?
2nd ?, the free wheeling gear on the crank is hard up against the interim gear so I assume there should be some sort of shim behind. Does anyone have an exploded views of the starter set-up and the alternator set-up that could be attached here?
I have boxes of nuts, bolts ignition componants, springy things and lot's of bits I don't recognise.
I don't have a camera at the moment otherwise I'd take photos and could run a compitition for, Recognise this part!! If I don't have it back together in the next 2 weeks when my misses returns with the camera, I might have to do that.
Cheers

Hey Rob, both Laverda Paradise and Wolfgang have copies of the "exploded" views from the parts manuals on their web sites.

Davo, thanks for that tip, will have a look. As for the metal cover plate on the spragg clutch, on further investigation after a through clean I've discovered it's tapped for a M5.
Can't find any M5 countersunk screws in any of the boxes so I assume they got lost.
I just can't believe you take a motor apart and throw everything, nuts bolts washers shims cam bearings!!! :o loosely into open boxes. :o :o
When I take anything apart then reassemble, every nut and bolt goes back from where it came from! is that weird??

Hi Rob,

Motorcyclists jigsaw puzzle - fun!  The cover bolts on with M5 cks as you have found.  There's a thrust washer meant to go between the circlip next to the crank main bearing and the freewheel.

What's the bet you have a number of bits from an R1 in that box, and someone, somewhere is wondering where the feck the little woodruff key goes on his R1...

Cheers
Steve

Thanks for that Steve, thrush washer, makes sence! It's not only engine parts in boxes, looks to be a bunch of frame nuts and bolts as well. Spotted the spacer for mountiing the chain guard, the layers of grease gave that away!!
About the R1, it's not so funny as your probably not far wrong!!

What holds the spragg gear in place? Found the thrush washer, so it goes circlip, thrush washer, gear, ?, then Alt/spragg housing to morse taper. Sound right? Like to know what retains the gear though.
Cheers

The (freewheel) gear is just retained by the correct amount of side clearance the whole assembly (if complete and correct... :D) allows.

there is also a small hardened steel tang that has a slight kink in it that bolts into a small machined recess on the top cover
it fits in front of the gear and sort of stops it from walking backwards
think it is a 5mm allen head bolt

Hi Red, there is a ally boss cast in the top case at about 12oclock, machined face about flush with the face of the gear. It is tapped for a M5 screw. Should the tang bolt on here? Unfortunetly no tang amongst to loose parts!!

Hi
When i did the starter sprag on my rgs which had totaly destroyed itself i managed to get all the bits from slaters except the little spring steel tang.i managed to find a car oil filler cap that had an offset inner securing ear that half of was exactly the right shape and size and used that,it was a bmw oil filler cap.
