Idle mixture screw seals

Hhhmmm, I wonder what he means by 'unrestricted airbox'. Mines standard except for the lack of the inlet trumpet. Does unrestricted mean drilling the 3 40mm holes in the bottom of the airbox as mentioned elsewhere. Either way 120 is too big it would seem.

118 on a Corsa so maybe someone has drilled holes in the airbox like Corsa/SFC1000 practice.

PM  me your address if you can't find those parts. i have some air screw washers and o rings in my "dellorto box". Of course, in that event, it will prove to be a national embarassment to OZ, which is striving to become the bevel ducati capital of the world...

You'll probably have to prime the pumps to get 'em squirting. Take out the brass plug on the pump (part # 54 on Mark's parts diagram) and pour a bit of juice in.

Replacing the old, stiff and brittle pump plunger/membrane assembly with new items gets you around a lot of fiddling, usually come in after only about 4-5 complete strokes, provided the rest of the pumper system is clean, unobstructed and air-tight!

Thanks Spub and piet, yep all of that is replaced, should be like new :) It'll be a few weeks before we try and start her up.

Grant, no holes in the airbox except the original one in the back so I'll try the 108s first and see if it fixes the running issue on argy.

Thanks all.

Keep up with the program Cam  :D

Well, fucked if I know what's going on. You started talking about the 40mm Dells on the Ducati and now you're talking about the Argy.

The 900SS should only have inlet trumpets with wire mesh. My MHR has PHM40's with airboxes and paper filters, and runs 135 mains. The 900SS trumpets might flow a bit more air so you might need bigger mains.

When I had the 32mm Dells on the Jota, it ran 120 mains with the standard airbox and WOT mixture was pretty much spot on (tested on dyno). I'd have thought 108's in the Argy would be on the lean side. As a first cut diagnosis on the main jet mixture, find a bit of clear road and crank it up on full throttle, then ease the choke on. If it starts to pick up, they your main jets are too lean. If it bogs down further, then they're too rich.

I turned it into a double thread specifically to confuse you.  :D :D :D

Standard is 108 so that I will try. The choke makes no difference at all, when you open the throttle up fully now it's like turning the ignition off altogether, let it off a bit and it picks up again.

Marky boy is going to see if he has some 108s in his box of tricks, he should have my original ones somewhere I suspect, otherwise I'll wait till Red gets back and raid his shed.

Indeed the 900 has the trumpets with wire grills to keep the kookaburras out. I'm going to run it with some K&Ns though. Can't wait to get it fired up, still some work to do before that though, caswell the tank, see if any of the electrics work at all, polishing and painting all sorts of shit, calipers are painted and back together almost. Headers I will ceramic coat silver like argys. New tyres eventually, will pull the wheels off and clean them up and paint the disk holders etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

If I had more space I'd pull it all apart at once, as it is I can only do one bit at a time. Stops me losing things I guess.

Another easy main jet test is run it on the main for a while, and then back off the throttle a bit.If it docent drop the revs your lean.Pick your spot and wear the gear. Not smart doing it just before the start of The Sydney Harbour Bridge and wearing T shirt and shorts.Even in 3rd gear they get pretty quick at full wack.

As Wdietz posted above 152ish mains and 60 ish pilots are a good starting point with the PHMs and trumpets, needle on second notch to start. many, though,  many go up one size or so on the rear cylinder jets, since it is less in the airflow. These settings should be fine too if you went to K&Ns, perhaps a bit rich with more restrictive filters.

My RGA Jota Sprint (why Laverda called it a Jota, when it has A11 cams is anyone's guess...) had 135 mains when I bought it and totally bogged down. With standard airbox (no holes in the bottom, no snorkel) I ended up with 118's which fixed it well - although it's way better now it has Mik's on - thanks Keith!

Here's a dyno output comparing the jets...
