Ignitech parts list help please

I'm starting work on an Ignitech installation on my Series II Jota and need some information. I want to get the TCIP4 set up for hall effect pickups. I understand I can ask them (Ignitech) to set it up that way which is fine. I see though that people are using the Sasche pickup plate. Looking at the Sasche web site I cant decide which plate to order. None of the spare plates offered look like the one shown in the Series II kit. My question then is, which plate do I order?

On that subject. I have here an old pickup assembly from one of John Wilson's IIS ignitions. I think that should be a hall effect pickup right? And if so, would it work with the Ignitech system or do I need two pickups?

Once all that is worked out, what other items do i need from Ignitech. I'll order a basic harness and the serial/usb cable but do I need anything else (besides wiring connectors which will come from elsewhere)?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Ed, been a long time since you have been on the forum or have you just been lurking  :D

when you order the box from Ignitech you need to ask for a Sparker TCIP4 Full 4 channel (1 x Hall, 2 x Hall) boxes. You could ask for a 2 channel box which will work fine but if you go for the 4 channel box it gives you the option that it can be used at some stage to convert your ignition system to run 3 x single coils, one on each cylinder controlled by a separate channel on each coil.
we can supply you with one of our own Series 2 boards if you wish instead of going through Sachse, our email is the same

Good question on the IIS board, it only has one large magnet on the rotor and even though I have a number of IIS boards here I have never tried one with an Ignitech set up
Way the Sachse and Redax boards work is by using two magnets, first magnet set with South pole up which turns on the trigger as it passes, second magnet is set at North pole and turns off the trigger as it passes
John's board must not be an on/off Hall Effect trigger as it only sees one pole, in fact I have never even checked on his rotors which pole is facing up
is actually something I have thought of trying and even discussed it with MarkQLD only 2 weeks ago as he has an IIS on his Series 2 Jota and wants to try an Ignitech box so we can get rid of some "pinging" issues but not got around to trying it yet

you only need the box from Ignitech, is better to make your own harness or we can send you a harness already made up to suit the Jota
one thing to do though if you make your own harness is to use short tails from their 20 pin connector joining to Deutsch connectors or similar as you never want to try and remove the connectors from that 20 pin plug, they are a nightmare to remove

good luck

Lurking lately, but before that... as you know the oil fields are a bad place to be if your not going to be paying attention. All's mostly well now, so I'm back to the safe pursuits. Like blasting around on a Laverda triple!  :P

You make pickup boards now too? I have been away a while I guess..

I'll be emailing you soon, thanks Red.
