ignition problem I think

I am away for a couple of months at a time. The day before I left the last time I went for a run even though it it was raining.Never been a problem in the past. Its a series 2 Jota.
Having got back home a few days ago, I thought I would go for a ride but she won't fire properly on one of the outer pots . It cuts in briefly but refuses to fire until well over 3500 revs.
I have spent the day trying to find the problem but with no luck. It has an ISS ignition and I am wondering if age has caught up with it.
Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey John,
If you are having the issue on 1 or 3 but only on one side then I cannot see how the IIS is faulty.
Could be but if it was the IIS you would think it would take both outer plugs out together.

Swap your coil leads over and see if the fault follows the lead.

Changed spark plugs ?

cut the tang off 3 old plugs and earth them out on the engine and then run the IIS through it's test program, it runs the sparks up to 10,000 rpm and with tangs missing coils need to work harder
if it is a coil, lead or plug cap issue you should be able to see it on the test program

am home on Sunday, have spare IIS kit if needed

Hey, your 2nd 81 Jota is in my workshop at the moment.

Good luck
Red

I changed the plugs and caps today which is what I thought would be the cause. The old and new plugs fire but when fitted and under load, no go. I don't even know which one is misfiring.
Will run the test as you said Red.
Cheers john
