import historic status

My 1000 triple was, according to the V5C, imported into the UK (and thus first registered) in 1994 but is also declared manufactured in 1980.
How do I apply for historic status/exemption, etc. when the time comes (next year)?

With the VIN-No the build date can be narrowed:
