IOM TT 2026 Carnage

And as a response to the ‘carnage’ remark and the number of deaths at the TT, which sadly is one so far at this year’s event, how many have died in the UK in the last few days just from going to ‘cool off’ in some lake, pond, river, sea etc during the mini heat wave. It’s a darn sight more than one.
It's all down to the price of human life.
The TT is a big economic machine.

"I told my hang gliding instructor “ the last 15 feet is the dangerous bit..”
There is a (mis?) quote from Petter Solberg, the former rally driver. Translated from Norwegian "fart" is speed, and "smell" is a bang. Petter when answering a question after a big crash: "It is not the fart that is the problem but the smell that comes after!"

I was always led to believe that for mile for mile fatalities then Monza in Italy was the most dangerous track ......

IoM ......... 281 deaths divide by 37.75 miles equals about 7 deaths per mile circuit length

Monza ....... 88 deaths divide by 3.6 miles equals about 24 deaths per mile circuit length

Twice the number of spectators have been killed at Monza compared to the IoM

And that`s taking into account Monza is no longer the circuit it used to be .......

Mind you , that`s statistics for you ..........

According to the UK Government I`ve been killed 4 times whilst out riding my bike , compared to the same mileage covered by a car driver ........
